Grass Roots picks up Silver award for effective communications
The learning arm of performance improvement business Grass Roots, celebrated success at the recent International Visual Communication Association annual awards.
In partnership with production house, Juice, Grass Roots collected the Silver Industry Award for Effective Communications for a programme aimed at improving sales effectiveness in GAME Stores Group Ltd.
The initiative, which began last summer, involved the engagement of regional and store managers and all 3,500 employees across the UK through workshop and in-store activity based learning. The programme branded ‘Xcite’ covered core selling and customer service skills such as questioning and closing techniques, using fun, interactive video led methodology.
Communication was an integral part of ensuring the project’s success, given the target audience’s sophistication with multimedia. The use of an interactive game style DVD enabled best practice selling techniques to be powerfully conveyed and sales staff clearly understood the benefits to themselves of employing the training techniques.
Malcolm Knight, HR Director for GAME, commented: “Winning the award is recognition for a great team effort and all the hard work that has gone into ‘Xcite’. The programme is improving customer service in our stores including sales conversion rates, as our colleagues are fully engaged in a practical sales solution to continually enhance customer service.”
Steven Morris of Grass Roots was equally enthusiastic: “It’s been a pleasure to work on this programme. Thanks to the contribution of all parties we have been able to bring together the two things that are critical for employee engagement: communication and learning. The reaction from the GAME teams has been superb.”
